Community Coordinator Position

Job Title: Community Coordinator

Employer: McCook Economic Development Corporation

Hours of work: 40 – 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. M-F

Salary: $15/hour

Benefits: $400 monthly HRA/3% match on retirement/Paid Time Off

Job Summary

McCook Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and McCook Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) is looking for the right individual to coordinate McCook’s early childhood education access and quality improvements and to provide administrative support for the McCook Chamber CEO. You will have the opportunity to make an impact in the community of McCook through this position. This is a partial grant funded position that is guaranteed for one year and could be up to three years.

Job Responsibilities:

60% – MEDC Early Childhood Community Coordinator

  • Administer current early childhood access programs including the Jump Start for New Providers, Infant Incentive, and Early Childhood degree seeking scholarships
  • Lead efforts of Community 4 Kids team to create a Brain Friendly Community
  • Build relationships with area childcare providers to determine needs to improve access and quality
  • Promotion of current and future initiatives through social media, traditional media, and direct contact
  • Promotion of the importance of quality early childhood education in coordination with First Five campaigns
  • Organize and recruit participation for every other month provider meetings.
  • Coordinate Ready Rosie program
  • Lead efforts to form regional partnerships to advance quality and access to early childhood education
  • Manage early childhood education initiatives budget
  • Conduct evaluation of programs
  • Coordinate meetings and communication with McCook/Red Willow County’s Community 4 Kids core team
  • Develop affordability program to aid low- and middle-income families for quality early childhood education
  • Coordinate efforts to improve quality, including programs encouraging providers to advance in Step Up to Quality
  • Act as the first point of contact for members, guests, and visitors
  • Other duties as assigned

40% – Chamber Community Coordinator

  • Fulfill the day-to-day functions of the McCook Chamber under supervision of the CEO
  • Act as the first point of contact for members, guests, and visitors
  • Answer phones in a professional manner
  • Relay information to the CEO and committees as directed
  • Coordinate member visits and other scheduling for the CEO
  • Coordinate McCook Chamber activities, committees, events, functions, and initiatives
  • Coordinate McCook Chamber Foundation activities, committees, evens, functions, and initiatives
  • Record meeting minutes for McCook Chamber and Chamber Foundation meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Associates degree desired, but experience can be substituted
  • Ability to develop partnerships with childcare providers, business owners, and community members
  • Detail orientated and organized to track grant requirements and organize chamber activities
  • Excellent communication skills through digital and in person mediums
  • Able to work independently on certain tasks, while follow guidelines in other areas
  • Ability to adapt to changing community capacity and need
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills with Word, Outlook, and Excel
